New Zealand Certificate in Barber Skills (Level 3)

Learn haircuts, clipper work, cutting and shaving, sales and the crucial social skills needed in barbering. Benefit from industry masterclasses each week. Train in our barbershops open to the public and begin building your clientele – you’ll have done hundreds of haircuts by the time you’ve finished.

What you will learn

  • Apply knowledge of barbering theory and techniques to cut hair for clients under supervision
  • Be able to talk to a client to work out what they need
  • Provide client care and advice, and carry out associated transactions and sales
  • Understand all health, safety and hygiene legislation and regulations, as well as professional grooming standards

Entry criteria

Under 20 years

NCEA Level 1 or equivalent.

20+ years

If you’re 20 years or over, you may qualify for special admission on this programme. Contact us if you don’t meet the Under 20 entry criteria.
